The thread delivery system on Handi Quilter longarm machines is designed for use with cones of strong, high-quality thread. But sometimes, a quilter wants to use up some spools of thread from the studio, or try a delicate thread that comes on a spool. Placing a spool of thread on the thread stand is asking for trouble. The thread can snag on the slit on the top of the spool or wrap around the bottom of the spool, causing tension problems and breakage.
Here's the solution. Place the spool so it unwinds horizontally instead of vertically. Use the Horizontal Spool Pin with metallic threads or thread that does not feed evenly from the top of the spool. Compatible with all HQ longarm machines. For most machines, the spool pin mounts in the threaded hole at the top front of the machine. For others, the threaded pin is not needed, but spool pin can be clamped to an existing thread mast (HQ Infinity, for example). Compatible with all HQ longarm machines.
