Moxie problems?

🤚 Otherwise, I love it!  I called HQ today and was told the machine needs to be physically adjusted by a tech. He believed it was the sensor (magnet) on the needle shaft. I live in the boonies and with the pandemic I’m reluctant to take a road trip right now. HQ tech did tell me I could do no damage to the machine by using it, and I can use the hand wheel to raise/lower the needle.  A bit of a stretch that.

if it needed any adjustment, it would not work fine when you turn it on.  This problem gets worse the longer you sew.  Power off and on and it works fine again.  Yes, the magnet on the shaft can be moved until you glue it down, but it is not the root of the problem.

save your gas and wait for a software update

Just set the Moxie up this weekend and finally turned her on yesterday. After using it for a bit I too noticed this problem. I am going to contact tech support today.

I also just set up my Moxie and I am seeing the same exact problem that you are describing.  I emailed tech support today.  Thank you for posting this so that I know I am not crazy or doing something wrong.  My SO is an Computer Engineer and he agrees that it is probably a firmware issue.

I am also having that needle issue with my Moxie. It will also continue to run -needle up and down-occasionally even after it has been turned off at the handlebar.( the only way to stop it is to switch off  the power button on the back of the machine.)  Took it back to the quilt shop I purchased it from for repairs, but is still running the same😫

HQ issued an updated software, you follow the instructions in the manual to download and install.

So I did the Moxie screen and machine firmware update and did the diagnose for the needle position. I posted a support help ticket against the condition noted here. The needle position data (Diagnostic Menu) is reporting only 75 degrees different for needle up to down (button control) but when you manually set the position, you see the expected about 180 difference value.

Thought I was crazy, glad to see others having same issue but sad it's an issue.  To Bill Keller, did the update fix your machine?

Texas Quilter the update seems to have fixed the problem.  I have not had any issues since.
