Who else is having needle up/down issues? Just looking for a show of hands. Anybody that uses the machine over 5 to 10 minutes most likely. It should be a simple software fix, don't know why it is taking so long. You can look at the needle position using the troubleshooting icon with the magnet symbol. Check it after the machine is powered on and record the value when the needle is both up and down. Sew for a while and you will see the needle up position (physical position) begin to drift, lower and lower to the quilt, each time to stop sewing. Check the troubleshooting values again and record. After about 20 minutes of sewing, the needle won't leave the quilt in either up or down position, although the troubleshooting values have changed very little. If you turn the handwheel to get the needle to "up" it has drifted about 30 degrees.
The online help tech suggested a loose belt. If the belt was loose the timing would be off so far that it wouldn't be sewing without crashing, much less making decent stitches. My stitches are great, just can't press needle up and move the machine head because the needle won't leave the fabric.
