The sure foot is really great for not hitting the ruler with the needle when doing ruler work, but it's not manufactured right for the ruler work it is intended for.
Once attached to the machine (I have a Simply 16), the needle is not in the center of the foot, making impossible to stitch at a 1/4'' distance when doing ruler work. This is especially true with vertical lines (when the ruler is on the left, or on right side of the foot).
I do not see how the distance between the needle and the foot can be ajusted, since the foot bar and the needle bar cannot be tampered with.
To correct the sure foot flaw, my husband used his tools to bend the foot at a perfect 90 degree angle. I now have a precise 1/4'' when stitching in all directions. This makes me say the engeneering of the foot (probably made with computers) is right, but the manufacturing of the metal pieces would benefit from a quality check before the foots are sent out for sale.
A now a very happy quilter!
